Hello, there. Welcome to the 2nd module, Life Long Learner. This is the first lap and the theme is, the person in the mirror. I have a question. How do you perceive your ability to recognize your own emotions, thoughts, and values? How is your ability to understand how they affect your own behavior? Of course, the metaphor is powerful. The person in the mirror is me. Whenever we think about how to be a better leader, we must first think about the person in the mirror, me. I will use the storytelling profile, to show how your self-knowledge can influence your ability, to communicate properly with people. First of all, it will have to answer the questionnaire I have shared with you. This tool can be applied for other members of your team if you want. The results after answering the 40 questions will be revealed by counting how many points you got in the letters A, C, E, and R. Important remarks before I explain the four slices circle model. Everybody is the all four styles, but we have a preference in one or two of them. To enhance your self knowledge, you have to observe your score. By the way, this is a fantastic tool to understand preferences, our leadership style, our communication patterns, and the way other people would perceive ourselves. It's a powerful way of enhancing our understanding of the person in the mirror. Let's discuss one by one, the four quadrants and styles of storytelling. The A. If the majority of your score was in the letter A, which has positioned it in the high result such as 13, 15, or 18, you are in the upper left quadrant in the metaphoric four slices circle. This means that you demonstrate a style of storytelling and communication, that is focused on analytical side of business. Being in A show your focus on data, facts, long-term thinking, emphasis on tasks. Two-dimensions will guide your leadership style: Results, and authority. Think about other people of your team. Think about you. Having a strong A, shows that your focus is on analyzing data, facts, and long term thinking. You will tend to set up quick meetings with your employee, and focus on tasks, indicators, projections can be considered a person who likes to work individually. To enhance your self-knowledge, I would say your priorities are; defining goals and objectives, if you like to solve problems using logic, critical analysis, and theory. You may, for example, elect your main KPIs that will be, for example, efficiency, cost, margin. Ask yourself, do you agree with this? Is this the way you see yourself? Let's move away from the A. Looking at the very opposite side of the metaphoric four slices circle. Now it comes the R. If the majority of your points are in the R quadrants, you are opposite style of the A we have just analyzed. Why? In one word, you are the relational. Your focus is on people, values, emotions. Two-dimensions will guide your leadership style: Purpose and caring others. This is the style that will really take care of people's health, well-being, their degree of satisfaction at work, for example. To enhance your self knowledge, I would say your priorities are; facilitating people developments, sharing, listening, expressing feelings. You like to collaborate and build relationships. Your team will benefit from your intuitive Side and capability of underlying issues while being sensitive to other people's needs. My suggestion, it's important to learn from the extremes. If you are an A style, you should coach, talk and learn with the opposite style, R and vice versa. If you are a very clear R, you should learn from A's preferences. The beauty of what I am proposing is that you can develop other sides of your profile to get more engagement, improved communication, see if other members of your team have opposite style to yours. There will be the greatest opportunity to improve the image you have of the person in the mirror. Are we going to interpret the other two styles? C and E? Yes, let's do that. So if you find the majority of your point on the C quadrants, its position on the lower left on the four is licer circle, it will be recognized by a person whose style is focused on the scheduling, safety, structure and processes. In one word, you are the controller. That two dimensions that will guide your leadership style will be order and safety. When you have a meeting with a team member, you like to structure your agenda in advance. Think about how you can request a certain task. Your actions are focused on security, compliance, protections, details, you like things done well. To enhance your self-knowledge, I would say your priorities are attention to details and procedures. You are always trying to craft a story which will move business from point A to point B. You also value scheduling, making sure everything is on order and in control. As I said before, it's important to learn from the extremes. If you are a C-style, you should coach, talk, and learn with someone who is in the opposite style, E. So to enhance your self knowledge, be aware that people perceive your style like being a leader who, for example, search, strategy and likes to visualize the future. You would adopt actions, for example, that includes risk-taking and experimentation, thinking out of the box. You are seen as a person who combines and connect concepts and manage through brainstorming new ideas and adopt innovative solutions. You are always searching the big picture perspective. Two dimensions will guide your leadership style, enjoyment, and learning. Tell me, did you identify it yourself? Was it helpful to determine four styles and get a better understanding of your own profile. The person in the mirror is you. Before leading and analyzing other people on your team, think, how am I? What are my preferences? How am I perceived? Is there only my way to do things? Of course not. What I propose, diversity. The more you as a leader can lead a diverse team, the better. But in order to achieve that, my strongest recommendation is, it starts with the person in the mirror. Learn. We learn a practical and effective model of perceiving our style. Learn asking for a feedback from others. Apply. You can periodically repeat these questionnaire to see if there are any changes. In addition to applying it to your team members, peers, stakeholders. The benefit. You will improve your ability to communicate and get more results. Ready for continue our journey. Please recap all this content. Apply and make notes for your individual action plan.
