Hi, I'm Alyson Langon with EMCs Core Technologies. Over the next few minutes, I will be providing an overview of EMC Data Domain systems and get down to the basics of what has enabled Data Domain to create and lead the market for over a decade. Data Domain is the industry's most efficient, scalable, reliable, and cloud-ready protection storage. But the ability to consolidate, backup, archive, and disaster recovery all on a single platform. True protection storage can only be achieved with Data Domain secret source, its software. This includes Foundational Software such as the Data Domain Operating System that its industry-unique capabilities like the Data Domain, Data Invulnerability Architecture, as well as software options such as DD Replicator, DD Encryption, and more. In addition, there's the software that enables Data Domain to be directly integrated with enterprise applications like Oracle, SAP, and SQL via Database for Enterprise Apps, plus the Industry First Storage Integrated Data Protection via EMC Protect point. I'm going to start with the Data Domain Operating System, or DDOS, the brains behind Data Domain. DDOS powers Data Domain systems to deliver industry-leading speed and efficiency with throughput of up to 58.7 terabytes an hour. High-speed variable-length deduplication reduces data protection storage requirements by 10-30 times, making disk a cost-effective alternative to tape. This enables Data Domain to protect up to 86.4 petabytes, a logical capacity on a single system. DDOS also provides benefits such as reliable access and recovery of data with the Data Invulnerability Architecture, cloud readiness with secure Multi-tenancy, and finally is able to consolidate both backup and archive on a single platform and support both leading backup and archiving applications for seamless integration into your environment. Let's dig deeper into one of the key differentiators in DDOS, the Data Domain Data Invulnerability Architecture. Data Domain systems are designed as a storage of last resort built to ensure that you can reliably recover your data with confidence. Inline write and read verification protects against and automatically recovers from data integrity issues during data ingestion retrieval, you're ensured that data is stored correctly. Continuous Fault Detection and Self-Healing ensure data stays correct and that you're able to recover your data reliably, so that data is recoverable and accessible throughout its entire life cycle on a Data Domain system. This is hands down the industry's best defense against data integrity issues. Also built into DDOS, secure Multi-tenancy enables large enterprises and service providers to offer data protection as a service with Data Domain systems in a public, private, or hybrid cloud. With secure Multi-tenancy a Data Domain system can logically isolate data and restrict each tenant's visibility and read-write access to only their data. In addition, Secure Multi-tenancy provides management and monitoring by tenant to enable charge-back trending and other reporting. This makes Data Domain truly cloud ready. Another key differentiator enabled by DDOS is the ability to consolidate both backup and archive data onto a single Data Domain system. The ability to consolidate these two workloads eliminates unnecessary storage silos and further reduces storage requirements with global deduplication. The addition of DD Retention Lock Software allows secure file locking at an individual file level and enables you to meet the strictest compliance requirements. Now we're going to cover a key Data Domain software. EMC Data Domain Boost provides advanced integration with leading backup and enterprise applications. With DD Boost, parts of the deduplication process are distributed to the backup or application server, enabling client-side deduplication so only unique data segments are sent to the data domain system. This enables 50 percent faster backups and reduces network requirements by up to 99 percent. DD Boost for Enterprise Applications also enables client-side deduplication for 50 percent faster backups, and it integrates directly with the application such as Oracle or SQL. This empowers application owners to control their own backup and recovery using their native utilities. DD Boost for Enterprise Apps also includes EMC Data Protection Advisor, which provides comprehensive and automated monitoring, analysis, and reporting of data protection environments and offers full visibility into the effectiveness of your data protection strategy. Finally, EMC Protect Plant Software provides an Industry First Data Protection Solution that integrates primary storage and Data Domain. The key benefits of Protect point are up to 20 times faster backups compared to traditional methods, eliminating the backup impact on the application server, and reducing cost and complexity by eliminating excess infrastructure. Essentially, this enables the functionality of backup with the performance of snapshots. To summarize, only EMC offers the most trusted protection storage on the market with Data Domain powered by Data Domain software, which has been proven in the most demanding data centers for over 12 years. With Data Domain, you gain industry-leading speed and scale, the assurance that your data remains recoverable no matter what, and the ability to protect your data wherever it lives in the most efficient way possible.
