As a new professional you'll find that there may be a gap between the time you accept your job, and the time you actually go to work. So the question for you to ask is, what do you want to do during this gap? How will you use your time wisely? We found that the better you prepare, the more successful your transition will be. And the more successful your transition will be, the more success you'll have and the earlier you'll be promoted. So you can change your, your transition to this power envoy, and by doing that, you will find that you're not just starting a job, your launching a new extraordinary career. The National Bureau of Labor Statistics have some interesting evidence for you. And it turns out that the 24 to 27 year old age group tends to keep their jobs only for about three years. So that means you've extrapolated to your full-time career or to your retirement age. You may have twelve transitions as a kind you're going through right now. So if you can set up a habit of really learning how to optimize the use of these transitions, and do power on-boarding, the accumulative effect of that over your career will truly be significant. And that's what this whole course is about. We want to teach you how to do that, and give you the tools to do that. We'll do that through six classes. The first part of the sessions will be focused on how you're going to get ready. You're going to think about yourself, do some self assessment, think about those tools and those skills that you want to add to your repertoire, so that you will be the most effective person you can be when you show up for your job. The middle part of the course will be how you're going to get set. And that's going to be focused on working with your boss, really digging into the information. You need to have the background information on your job, your division, your department. And learning who will be your new colleagues and maybe having a chance to meet them before you actually start your job. The last part of the course will be focused on Go. And here you'll be preparing a plan for your very first days on the job. You'll be thinking about who are those people I want to meet? How do I set myself up so they will experience me in a positive way? How will I make that very, very good first impression? In addition to that, you're going to be thinking about, what's my attitude? What's my philosophy that I'm going to demonstrate to my co-workers? So as you put all these things together, you're going to find that you'll need a worksheet to help you. And we've provided that for you. So each one of the stages in the course, you'll see a progressively used worksheet that will have notes for you, it'll have questions for you to be sure that you have full analysis of your background as you prepare your own on-boarding plan. To further support you, we have samples of actual on-boarding plans that were developed by people like you, for their transitions. They're in the marketing area, the consulting area, some of them are in financial services. And even some of them in the teaching area, and they're different formats. So if you like to use PowerPoint, you'd like to use, you know, Word, or you'd like to use Excel, there'll be a format that you can use and make it easy for you to develop your own plan. Now many of you are going to go to companies that have their own on-boarding or their own transition plans. And not to worry about whether these are conflict, they're actually going to compliment each other. So as you develop your own plan as personalize for you, for your style, your knowledge and your skills, that will compliment the plan that the company's put together for you. So when you put these things together, the leverage will be terrific. So this is the time now to start on your personal power on-boarding plan.
